How do your prices compare to the prices of brick and vinyl?

While prices vary from market to market, this is how Hardiplank siding compares in installed price with its competitors

  • More expensive than Vinyl
  • Less expensive than Brick
  • Equal or less than Hardboard Siding
  • Less expensive than Synthetic Stucco

Do I have to paint Hardiplank siding?
Yes, Hardiplank lap siding is required to be painted.

For best results use Hardiplank with our exclusive PrimePlusTM factory prime system along with one top coat of 100% Acrylic Paint. If factory priming is not being used, Hardie recommends the application of one top coat of alkaline resistant primer and one top coat of 100% acrylic paint. For spcecific recommendations, please refer to JH Technical Bulletin No. S-100 or contact the Paint Manufacturer for their specifications. Hardiplank with the PrimePlusTM system is required to be painted within 120 days of installation. Hardiplank unprimed is required to be painted within 90 days of installation.

Do you require a weather-resistive barrier behind Hardiplank siding?
James Hardie as well as the Model Building Codes (UBC, Standard, etc.) require the use of a weather-resistive barrier. It is good building practice.

Any weather-resistive barrier complying with the Model Building Codes (UBC, Standard, etc.) is acceptable.
